Brass Mermaid Memories
on November 28th, 2011 at 7:47 pmCleaning trough the memories
you left behind
your memories
not mine
Stories you never told
dreams you never shared
or did you try
and I not hear
Hopes
of a life time
But now I know
you meant to
leave those things behind
objects
They speak the words
you could not
how else would I truly
know you
A little mermaid
a little brass mermaid
fell on the table
as I was reading
a love note you wrote
so deeply loving
from you
Before we meet
But I knew those words
they rang true
truly felt
I knew those words
on paper
and in deed
You meant them then you meant them
and then you meant them again
Your passion for life
flowed over into
everything you did
and everyone you knew
Loving always like a child
a true innocent
hiding behind an adults body
but that child could not be held in
and the child always came out to play
long before the adult could stop her
I wonder if the adult even tried
You never said
I never ask
Keep sakes
yours truly
I came to know more
from a postage stamp
a short kept diary
The clutter of a life time
that our life time
never had the time
to know
So you left them behind
for me
the childhood picture
of innocents
The picture of life
just starting
And then the
hopes and dreams
like childhood gone
in the sigh of one last breath
vaporized into eternity
I hope to leave behind
a few good memories
and a lot of imagination

Stunning in its love and beauty, Dan. Every line is filled with depth.
Each of the two passages which stood out for me were commented on earlier. You have a great gift with language. Thank you for sharing such intimate moments. Peace.
Some people simply have the gift of love, while others go their whole lives without knowing it. You were, and are, one of the lucky ones.
The clutter of a life time
that our life time
never had the time
to know
Beatifully written, goes straight to the heart.
Great one Dan
but that child could not be held in
and the child always came out to play
long before the adult could stop her
I wonder if the adult even tried
Lovingly written…Hugs :O) and God Bless
